There are two words I hear over and over again as a mom and as a teacher in the classroom. “I’m sorry” What I want to teach you today is to never feel sorry or being YOU!
I hear “I’m sorry” when someone asks a question or when we say the wrong answer or when we talk a little bit to loud for someone.
It just makes no sense. We often apologize for being ourselves and I want to put a stop to this right now!
I never want you to apologize for being who you are. I never want you to say I’m sorry for being you. Stop saying sorry for the things you do in your life that make other people feel uncomfortable.
If you want to try out for the play and everyone around, you think that isn’t cool enough DON’T apologize for being brave and doing something that lights you up inside.
Never Dim Your Light
Sometimes we dim our light inside of us to make others feel more comfortable. What I mean by this is we don’t try out, we don’t raise out hand in class, we don’t call out the right answer because we don’t want others to see us shine or we don’t want to be seen at all.
Don’t apologize or dim that light you have inside you for anyone. Stop saying I’m sorry for something that makes you happy or makes you who you are. Don’t be sorry for standing up for who you are and what you want.
Here the truth, you are going to be judged by someone. Good or bad it is happening. It’s just a fact. As soon as you can accept that fact and understand that other people’s opinions of you don’t get to validate who you are inside, you start to grow. We become unapologetically who we want to be.
We often live our lives trying NOT to stand out from the crowd in fear of getting judged by someone. I want you to learn that living a life not worrying what others think and not feeling sorry for being who you are is when you begin to shine.
Promise me this. Starting today, don’t be sorry anymore.
Don’t be sorry for being happy, for being smart, athletic, kind, outgoing, loud, talkative, goofy, Don’t be sorry for being YOU!
Let me know in the comments that you are going to start today!
