DIY Trick or Treat Bags

Blog

One of the ideas from our Fall bucket list this year was making one of a kind Trick or Treat bags. These bags were so much fun to create and dream up with my daughter.  If your child is tired of carrying around an old pillowcase Trick or Treating then this is the post for you!

We went to JoAnn fabrics and picked up a pack of three fabric bags. I just love the colors of these bags and how they are not the traditional orange and black you normally see for Halloween.

I used my Cricut for this project but Joann’s has a large selection of iron-on images and letters that are designed and pre-cut for you.

The first bag we created was the hot pink bag. We found a mint green pom pom garland at JoAnn Fabrics and hot glued it to the top of the bag. We did this on the front and also the back.

For the saying on the front, we used my Cricut to design and cut the image.  My daughter is a huge candy lover so she wanted this bag to list all her favorite candies. So we decided to call this bag “my favorites.” We listed her top 3 favorite candies underneath and I think it turned out adorable!

The next bag was a light blue one. I just love this light blue color for Halloween! I first attached this black and white pom pom garland we found at JoAnn Fabrics. We immediately fell in love with it when we saw it! Stay tuned because I am using it for something else we are creating together for her bedroom!

We used my Cricut to design and cut the saying for the front of this bag also. This bag says “Sugar is my favorite”! The iron on we used is perfect because the white almost looks like sugar crystals.

The last bag we designed was the green one. I love the way this bag turned out! We found some large black lace ribbon for the top which I think looks great on the green bag. We used my Cricut again to cut out a fun saying for this bag. This bag says “witch way to the candy.”

I think they all turned out awesome and it was so much fun to do together. If you don’t have a Cricut you can literally add anything you want to create your very own one of a kind Trick or Treat bag.

I am not sure which bag my daughter is going to choose to carry for Halloween night. She tells me she can’t decide!  Whatever she chooses we will definitely be sharing the other bags with her cousins that night! No one will be carrying pillowcases door to door this Halloween!
