DIY Summer Beach Bag

Craft Ideas

Today I am sharing a fun summer craft idea that my daughter and I made together.

I believe that through creativity we can create a connection.

I know that with my daughter that is our love language to each other. When we are being creative and crafty together we slow down from the every day, we get to talk, laugh and connect. It opens the doors for us to talk about not only the highs but also the lows.

I believe that these moments of creativity connect us.

That is why I will be sharing inspiration and ideas that will get you creating and connecting with your tweens and teens.

Next week we will be off to California and I thought it would be fun to make her and her cousin a beach bag or a bag for the plane!

We found cute bags on clearance for $3.00 at Michaels. I grabbed some glitter iron-on to use with my Cricut and we were ready to craft!

It was really fun showing her how the Cricut works. Honestly, possibilities are endless using the Cricut cutting machine.

First, I designed the name and found the California Dreamin clipart inside the Cricut design space.

Next, the Cricut cut the images out for me on the glitter iron-on paper. Make sure that you have mirror-image set for an iron-on so it does not come out backwards when you iron it on the fabric.

I then removed the excess glitter paper so only the design was left.

Next, we placed the design where we wanted it on the bag. It was now time to iron on the image. I let my daughter iron on her image and she was so excited to do it! She has never used the iron before so this was a big deal for her.

I think the bag turned out so cute and she and her cousin will now have matching beach bags for our trip!

I hope you loved this fun craft idea! It was so much fun to do with my daughter and you can see the video tutorial on my Instagram Stories!
