My kids are huge fans of decorating for Halloween. They love getting out all the bins and decorating the house. My daughter asked if this year she could decorate her bedroom for Halloween. I was all about it and thought it would be a great way for us to get crafty together. We decided on making a custom Halloween pillow and garland for her bed.
The pillow and the garland turned out so cute and it was so easy to make. Let me show you how!
DIY Halloween Pillow
First, we purchased a black pillowcase from Amazon and a pillow insert.
For the saying, we decided on “Batty & Beautiful” for the pillow. We used my Cricut to cut lettering from the iron-on material. We also added a cute little bat to the side.
We both agreed that the pillow could use a little more decoration so I used a pom pom ribbon for the edges. We had this pom pom ribbon leftover from the Trick or Treat bags we made. We fell in love with this ribbon when we found it at JoAnn Fabrics! You can check out the Trick or Treat post HERE.
Halloween Pillow Supplies
I used iron-on hem tape to attach the ribbon to the sides of the pillowcase. All you do is cut the hem tape the length of the pillowcase where you want to attach the ribbon. Then place the ribbon on top of the hem tape and iron over it. I used a high setting to make sure it would adhere.
How cute is this pillow!!! We just loved how it turned out!
DIY Halloween Garland
The next craft we made was a Halloween garland for her headboard. We used some dark gray craft paper and glitter pink craft paper for the garland. We cut bats out of the black paper and pumpkins out of the pink glitter paper. We used my Cricut to cut the shapes out. If you don’t have a Cricut then you can use scissors to cut out the bats and pumpkins.

We then used a small single hole punch to punch out small holes on both sides of each shape. We used a gray twine to string the shapes through the holes.
The garland turned out so cute! It perfectly matches her room. What I love about this craft is that you can customize it to match any color bedroom! Just find the craft paper that matches! The possibilities are endless!
