5 Fun Ways to Connect With Your Daughter

Blog

Finding ways to connect and have fun with my kids has to be at the top of my list for being a mom. I always want to find creative ways to bond with them more than just the after school conversations while they are doing homework at the kitchen island.

I also don’t always want to have to go somewhere or spend any money doing activities together. So I created a list of 5 ways you can connect with your daughter this winter that doesn’t cost any money and are really fun to do!

My 5 creative ideas!

Show her your yearbook from Middle school or High school – It can bring up great conversations! Seriously this was so much fun for us to do! I got all my high school yearbooks and we had a party on the living room floor. We laughed our heads off at the clothes we used to wear in the ’90s. She loved asking questions and seeing all the pictures!  We talked about friend relationships and stories I had from back then. It was a ton of fun and I highly recommend it!

Old Movie Night– Watch an old movie that you use to love when you were young. There are so many movies for me that bring back such fun childhood memories! Troop Beverly Hills has to be the top of my list for movies to watch with my daughter. This is a fun way for you to reminisce with her and she gets a peek into your past childhood memories.

Paint Eachother’s Nails – Ok, this one may seem a little boring but it can be so much fun. My daughter loves to paint her nails but why not let her paint your nails and you paint hers. We also love to check out Pinterest or YouTube for fun color combinations or designs to try out.

Watch Youtube hair tutorials and try them out– We love doing this activity! I always look at YouTube when I want to learn something. They have so many fun hair tutorials that you can watch with step by step instructions for beautiful hair ideas. It’s really fun to try new ways to braid or curl hair. I love following The Small Things blog. She has tons of hair and make-up tutorials on YouTube.

Read a book together– This has been a lot of fun for us. We started reading the book The Confidence Code together.  It’s an amazing book to read as a mother and daughter. We can discuss the stories they tell and I can answer any questions. Another idea is to read a fiction book together.  If your child is older and loves to read on their own then maybe you both read the same book and have a little book club together.

I hope you liked these fun ideas for spending time together. It doesn’t have to be grand or cost money to connect and bond with your child. Just making time and getting a little creative can make all the difference.
