Seashell Craft Picture Frame

Blog

This past June my family and I went on a vacation to Myrtle Beach.  It was such a great trip filled with lots of swimming, seashell collecting, sandcastle making and so much more.   What’s better than that, right?  Here are a few pictures from our trip!

My kids loved going to the ocean, boogie boarding, making sandcastles and of course collecting seashells.  I wanted to do something with these seashells besides leaving them in the bucket we collected them in.  While browsing around Michael’s Craft Store, I spotted wood frames for only $1.00 apiece.  I bought a few and knew they would be a perfect art project for my daughter and a fun way to remember our Myrtle Beach trip.

The materials you will need:

  • Frame with a flat front
  • hot glue gun
  • glue sticks
  • paint
  • paintbrush
  • seashells

Step 1: Paint the frame.  My daughter’s room is purple so she chose purple and white paint for her frame.  We used Crayola paint and it worked great!  I love it because it is washable.  Perfect for kids!

Step 2: After the paint dries, place the seashells on top of the frame to make any design you would like.

Step 3: Once you created your design, hot glue the seashells in place on the frame. Let the glue dry.   (My daughter and husband had a blast looking for shark teeth in the ocean.   You can see below the small one they found!)

Step 4: Lastly, add your favorite picture from your beach vacation!

I just love the way the frame turned out and so does my daughter.  She loves being crafty with her mommy and for me, that was the best part about this.  Such an easy project, fun for the kids and a great way to use all those seashells you collected on your last vacation.

I hope you enjoyed this fun project!
