How to Love Who You Are

We aren’t always taught how to love ourselves. It may seem strange to even think about but it’s something that is so important.

We also aren’t taught why we should love ourselves. I am going to share with you why you need to love yourself first. Why it’s so important to start treating and talking to yourself as if you were your best friend.

You may have heard the words self-love before and maybe you haven’t. But self-love is loving who you are and caring about your happiness and well-being.

Think about how you treat someone you love.

You are kind to them and talk positivity to them. You want to make them smile and feel happy. Maybe you lift them up when they feel sad or make a mistake.

Now think about how you might treat yourself.

Do you always talk nice to yourself?

Are you your biggest fan? Do cheer yourself on when you make a mistake?

Do you do things that make you happy?

You need to make sure you are happy inside and that you feel good inside and one way to do this is to love yourself. It’s not selfish its important and I want you to remember that.

You need to take care of your needs and make sure that they are a priority.

Having self-love will teach you to be strong, assertive, you will feel proud of things you accomplish in your life, you will be curious and discover things that light you up inside. It will help us to be confident and braver in everything we do.

WAYS TO LOVE YOURSELF

Well today we are going to start loving ourselves a little more and I am going to teach you how you can start doing that today.

  • I want you to start by talking kindly to yourself. For example, when you make a mistake don’t call yourself names. Give yourself some grace and tell yourself its ok to make a mistake. Allow yourself to fall down without telling yourself you aren’t good enough. Treat and talk to your self-kindly.
  • What is one thing that you can do for your self today that would make you happy inside. Is that listening to your favorite music before bed, taking a bubble bath, painting your nails, reading your favorite book. I want you to do those things. I want you to take some time each day and do somethings that make you happy inside. Things that make you feel like you are treating yourself.
  • Be accepting of who you are. Its easy to love the things we like about ourselves, but it can be hard to accept the things we don’t like. When we learn to start to accept the things, we aren’t crazy about we start to feel at peace with ourselves and not so insecure. Remember, if you are striving for perfection, you will never get it. Perfection will never happen, and you will be setting yourself up to fail.

It’s so important to love who we are, mistakes and imperfections in all. Taking time to do things that lift us up inside makes up feel good, more positive about waking up every day and teaches us to be kinder to ourselves. That’s all I want for you is to feel loved and to love yourself each and everyday you wake up.
